Pender Island consists of two islands, of which South Pender is the more rural and less populated of the two. It’s also home to the spectacular Poets Cove Resort & Spa that provides the seaplane gateway to both islands.
There are two popular hiking trails; one leads up to the splendid views from Mt. Norman and the other follows the canal to the white-shell beaches and arbutus headlands of Beaumont Marine Park, a unit of the Gulf Islands National Park Reserve.
A larger population calls North Pender Island, with its several small communities, home. Visitors will find a variety of accommodations (ranging from affordable to deluxe), restaurants, shopping, and the historic towns of Port Washington and Hope Bay. Area locals are well-known for their community theater, arts activities and unique island-grown festivals.
