Orcas Island Cider & Mead Festival | July 22

Orcas Island Cider & Mead Festival lets you sample a wide variety of ciders and meads. Plus, it gives you the opportunity to learn about how these fantastic drinks are made right from the producers. The event will also feature live music and a variety of food. All proceeds will benefit the Children’s House.

 

Pod Nods at The Whale Museum 2017 | July 28 & August 25, 2017

Have a young whale enthusiast in your life? Pod Nods at The Whale Museum are the ultimate pajama party sleepover for youngsters who love whales. During the evening participants will learn about whales and their environment through fun art projects, inspiring science labs, engaging games, and a flashlight tour of the Exhibit Hall. Plus, they’ll be treated to a bedtime movie!

 

Sean Hayes Concert | July 29

Independent recording artist Sean Hayes will take the stage at the Orcas Center to share some of the best tracks from his recently released album, Low Light. Incorporating R&B with the low-fi grit and crackle of folk, his music has a seductive vibrato perfect for an evening out.

 

State of the Ocean 2017 by Dr. Jan Newton | August 3

What’s happening with the ocean right now? Jan Newton, Ph.D., Co-Director of the Washington Ocean Acidification Center at the University of Washington, will explore how the climate and humans are affecting our water.

 

Eastsound Fly-In & Antique Car Show | August 4 – 6

From warbirds and old fashioned airplanes to antique cars and seaplanes, the Eastsound Fly-In & Antique Car Show features some of the most unique vehicles around. Each year 100 – 150 aircraft attend from around the country. Additionally, a series of flying demonstrations will showcase planes in different formations.

 

San Juan Summer Arts Festival 2017 | August 4, 11, 18 & 25

The San Juan Summer Arts Festival features all things local. Over 25 booths will showcase local art vendors, farmers, chefs, breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

Join us for a fun festival showcasing the talented artisans from throughout the San Juan Islands! This family-friendly event offers something for everyone.

 

Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival 2017 | August 9 & 10

August 9 and 10, the Orcas Island Chamber Music Festival will feature Schubert’s Trout Quintet. The program will also feature the return of flutist Lorna McGhee. Cellist Bion Tsang and pianist Andrew Staupe will captivate all in the passionate Cello Sonata of Rachmaninoff.

 

Doe Bay Fest | August 10 – 13

For the 10th year running, Doe Bay Fest returns with an extensive line-up of musicians, local cuisine, and activities. Camping is available, as is access to the resort’s clothing-optional spa.

 

Orcas Island Artists' Studio Tour | August 11 – 13

The Orcas Island Artists’ Studio Tour lets you meet artists in their working environment. Learn first hand about their creative process. Ask questions. View works in progress. And be inspired. Artist mediums include watercolors, stone cutting, woodwork, forging, encaustics, ceramics, fiber arts, sculpture, photography, jewelry, printmaking, paintings and more.

 

47th Annual Shaw Island Classic Sail Boat Race | August 12

The 47th Annual Shaw Island Classic Sail Boat Race circumnavigates Shaw Island. Boats have the option of going clockwise or counterclockwise around the scenic route the ends back in Friday Harbor. The race will culminate with a hearty lasagna dinner.

 

San Juan County Fair | August 16 - 19

From homemade pie and local performers to floral displays and 4-H demonstrations, the San Juan County Fair celebrates the traditions and talents of the San Juan Islands.

 

Friday Harbor 8.8K Loop Run | August 19

Celebrating its fortieth year, the annual Friday Harbor 8.8K Loop Run starts on Spring Street and winds all the way to the County Fair. Participants are invited to run, walk, skip or jump! An awards ceremony will follow the race with medals awarded in the first three places for all categories.

 

Solar Eclipse Across America | August 21

August 21, most of the continental U.S. will experience an eclipse – a stunning phenomenon when the moon moves between the earth and the sun. In the San Juan Islands, residents and visitors will see an 80 – 85% eclipse. A viewing party will be held at the San Juan Island National Historical Park. You’ll have the chance to safely view the sun through solar-viewing glasses and/or telescopes with solar filters.

 

Movie in the Park - God's Own Country | Aug 23rd

Enjoy a movie under the stars at the Orcas Island Film Festival. Bring a blanket or a chair for the outdoor viewing of God’s Own Country. A captivating and broodingly beautiful movie that features a thrilling love story.

 

Friday Harbor Fly-In “Wings & Wheels" | August 26

In celebration of the best wheels and wings around, the Friday Harbor Airport’s annual Fly In will feature vintage airplanes, experimental aircraft, motorcycles, vintage cars, and more. Visitors will be treated to Flying demonstrations and exhibits.

 

Concours d'Elegance of the San Juan Islands | August 27

The 11th annual Concours d'Elegance will feature unique and classic cars – many of which call the San Juans home! Hosted by the Sports Car Club of the San Juan Islands and the Rotary Club of San Juan Island, there will also be wine, music, and food. A fun drive and poker rally is open to those who wish to participate.

 

Music in the Park on the Village Green featuring Carl Burger | August 27

Located in the heart of Eastsound on Orcas Island, the Village Green’s outdoor amphitheater is a stunning place to spend a summer evening. Bring a picnic to enjoy while you listen to the stunning music of Carl Burger.

 

Orcas Island Jazz Festival | August 31 – Sep. 3

For the third year running, the Orcas Island Jazz Festival will feature some of the best jazz artists the northwest has to offer. You’ll be treated to the sounds of Pearl Django, Gretta Matassa, Paula Santoro, Ian Faquini, and Martin Lund.

 

Lopez Island Artists' Studio Tour | September 2 – 3

The slow pace of life on Lopez Island makes it a beacon for artists. Surrounded by nature, the quiet studios become a refuge for creative minds. During the 21st annual Lopez Island Artists’ Studio Tour, you’ll have the rare opportunity to meet artists in their working environment.

 

Third Annual Rock-EN-Roll Music Festival | September 3

Featuring a full day of music inspired festivities and fun, the third annual Rock-EN-Roll Music Festival features local musicians of all ages. The festival benefits the Music Production and Performance Artist Collective for Teens as well as teens from Puget Sound Music For Youth Association.

 

Deer Harbor Wooden Boat Rendezvous & Boat Race | September 4 – 6

The Wooden Boat Society of the San Juan Islands is excited to welcome boaters of all kinds to join them as the Deer Harbor Wooden Boat Rendezvous and Boat Race. While the Rendezvous is a low key celebration of wooden boats, kayaks, rowboats, motor launches, day-sailers, cruising sailboats and historic tall ships are all welcome!

 

Lopez Island Home Tour 2017 | September 16
