Seaplane Adventure Center Sales Associate

Location: Seattle waterfront
Position type: part-time (approx. 30 hours/week), seasonal (May 26–September 6), hourly + commission

General functions: The Seaplane Adventure Center sales associate sells the company’s flights and selected other products at a kiosk on the Seattle waterfront, with particular emphasis on flightseeing and daytrip offerings. The sales associate serves as the company’s ambassador to the waterfront clientele by maintaining a positive, assertive, highly visible sales presence. Additionally, the sales associate enters sales he/she makes in the company’s reservation computer system and coordinates customer service issues with staff at company terminals to insure a high-quality customer experience.

Qualifications:

  • A proven record of success at face-to-face sales in a fast-paced retail environment, preferably in a commissioned position. Demonstrated success at qualifying prospects, overcoming objections and closing sales.
  • Superior verbal communication skills, including the proven ability to communicate clearly and professionally with prospects and customers in a retail setting.
  • An outgoing, enthusiastic commitment to customer service for both internal and external clients.
  • Proven ability to work alone and to perform at a consistently high level with minimal daily supervision.
  • Experience with point-of-sale and/or reservation computer systems.
  • Experience in or particular knowledge of the airline industry, the hospitality/attractions industry and/or the Northwest travel industry is a strong plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
  • Applicants must undergo basic background check without adverse findings.

Specific accountabilities:

  • Acquire and retain detailed knowledge of the company’s relevant flights, destinations and product offerings, including associated features and benefits, fares and policies.
  • Recruit, cultivate and close sales with prospective customers from among the pedestrian traffic on the Seattle waterfront.
  • Discern specific needs and desires of individual customers and tailor sales pitch to those needs and desires, while identifying and exploiting appropriate opportunities to upsell.
  • Enter sales into the company’s reservation computer system accurately and in full compliance with established procedures and policies.
  • Provide frequent, relevant feedback to the Director of Marketing & Sales and the Lake Union terminal manager based on comments received from prospects and customers regarding the company’s product offerings, prices and quality of service.
  • Attend such training and orientation sessions as may be required from time to time.
