Remarkable architecture, lush gardens, and a plethora of delectable eateries dishing up some of the best eggs Benedict you’ve ever had make Victoria a must-visit destination.

Dubbed the Brunch Capital of Canada, the B.C. capital’s blossoming food scene is home to some of the best egg wielding chefs in the Pacific Northwest. When it comes to a breakfast worthy getaway, eggs Benedict takes the plate. And, Victoria has Bennies (Victorian for eggs Benedict) in ready supply.

John's Place

Considered the granddaddy of Victoria brunch spots, John’s Place was recently featured on the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here. Their extensive menu features 11 different eggs Benedict selections including a hollandaise-free, Mexican-inspired plate loaded with chorizo, cornbread, and jalapenos.

Want to just get there and start indulging already?

Zambri’s

For the most part, Zabri’s is a classy dinner destination ideal for a pizza-filled date night or celebratory dinner. But brunch aficionados have learned this pie-crafting eatery also knows a thing or two about eggs. In particular, Zambri’s Poached Eggs Fiorentina is simplistic elegance – soft poached eggs, wilted spinach and béchamel with a touch of lemon are loaded on house-made bread.

Eggs Benedict

Floyd's Diner

Looking to fill your breakfast with a mix of old school and new school flare? The selection of eggs Benedict at Floyd’s Diner ranges from fried chicken with bacon and jalapeno jelly to veggie-loaded goat cheese extravaganza.

Their portion sizes are worthy of a classic backcountry adventure and the chance to flip a coin for a free meal can bring a bit of fun to those who love the thrill of chance. How can you win? Order “The Mahoney”. The chef will surprise you with whatever he feels like making. And, you’ll have the chance flip a coin for your meal. But flip at your own risk. Lose and you pay double.

Willie’s Café and Bakery

A Victoria institution since 1887, Willie’s was the city’s first bakery. Expanding their offerings to a selection of all-day breakfast and lunch items – they’ve become a favorite breakfast destination for the Lojo shoppers. (Lojo is the local’s name for Lower Johnson Street where heritage buildings and local boutiques abound.)

Among our favorite breakfast items is the Blackstone, a Benny featuring maple glazed bacon, tomato, and aged cheddar.

Eggs Benedict at Blue Fox Cafe in Victoria

Blue Fox Café

Patience is a virtue – especially when it comes to waiting for a table at Blue Fox Café. And the wait is worth the plate. With Benny selections ranging from smoked salmon with chipotle aioli to Moroccan-spiced chicken with palm date chutney, this little Fort Street joint does brunch justice. Their impressive selection of morning-inspired cocktails doesn’t disappoint either. Because who doesn’t love savoring runny-yolk and hollandaise goodness with a glass of fruit-spiked bubbly?

Ready to start planning your Victoria brunch tour?

Jam Café

Scratch-made comfort food. That’s the name of the game at Jam Café, where a family-friendly atmosphere is paired with all-day breakfast and a full bar. In short, this is a must for the brunch loves in your life.

The café’s sweet selections include decadent brioche French toast and their infamous red velvet pancakes. But let’s not kid ourselves. We’re all about the Benedict. And Jam Café does a Benny right. Their selections range from salmon to pork belly, topped with a classic hollandaise that’s light and tangy. Pair that with their bourbon, pickle juice, and cured bacon cocktail (Bourbonator Ceasar) and you’re in for a treat.

Mo:lé

This ultra-trendy dining destination is well-known for serving anyone with special dietary needs. Their flavor-loaded menu offers a variety of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. And Mo:lé’s Bennies don’t disappoint either. While they offer the traditional selection of European back bacon and hollandaise, consider mixing things up with cold smoked albacore tuna Benny topped with a lemongrass-infused béchamel sauce.

Eggs Benedict for breakfast

Spoons Diner

On the funky side of awesome, Spoons Diner is dishing up breakfast with a dose of savory and sweet – you just need to pick what’s right for you. Their Big Bad breakfast Bake – a hybrid between huevos rancheros and lasagna is often a favorite. So too is their peanut butter and banana French toast. However, it’s their selection of eggs Benedict that really takes them to the next level.

Pre-designed combinations include peanut butter with curried chicken, BBQ pulled pork with caramelized onions, and a grilled cheese sandwich loaded with red onion and bacon. Though of course, their Build Your Own Benny always offers the perfect opportunity to mix and match your favorite combinations.

Shine Café

Flipping the head on the traditional English muffin, Shine Café turns it up a notch – offering eggs Benedict on top of delectable selections like spanakopita, cornbread, and perogies. And if the thought of a simple perogie eggs Benedict isn’t enough to get you salivating, picture it with bacon, caramelized onions, and roasted garlic hollandaise.

Eggs Benedict and Salmon

Avalon

Though the selection of eggs Benedicts is slim at Avalon (they only offer three), this downtown eatery has arguably the best Benny in town. With a no-muss, no-fuss menu, they remain focused on high-quality, fresh ingredients. Plus, these Bennies come served on the café’s house-made oaten toast, a slice of bread that’s earned them a well-deserved reputation for wholesome comfort food.

Northern Quarter

Breakfast Poutine.

Seriously, do we need to say anymore? This epic twist on the classic eggs Benedict is a fried-potato, egg yolk loaded, cheese curd packed, and hollandaise topped cure for anything that ails you. Northern Quarter – we’ll take two!
