From its 18th floor perch at the top of The Chateau Victoria Hotel, Vista 18 offers a 360-degree view of Victoria’s Inner Harbour and beyond. For New Year’s Eve, this swanky grill and wine bar is bringing in the cool and funky sounds of live jazz music. With a collection of craft cocktails and an optional four-course amuse bouche, this is an evening worthy of a toast (or a few).

4. New Year’s Day Polar Bear Swim

If you’re all about toasty drinks and fireside cuddles, this event’s probably not your style. Because the Polar Bear Swim isn’t for the faint of heart. This is an invigorating dip into chilly waters of Haro Strait. Hosted by Peninsula Celebrations Society, participants and cheerleaders are invited to gather at the Lochside Drive beach access, located just down from Tulista Park in Sidney.
